Each of us has ancestry that goes all the way back to the roots of our human history. In these most ancient of times, all of us had relatives that knew how to go out onto a landscape to gather, prepare and make fire by friction off the land. Making fire in this way is intimately connected to the elements; particularly plants and the sun! Learning this skill will deepen your relationship to nature, yourself, and your ancestors.

Fire continues to bring power, mystery, fear, transformation and technology into our present times. Most of us go through our day never thinking about fire; yet without it, much of our modern technology and conveniences would be inert. In this 5 hour workshop we will enact the story of fire through learning about local plant materials, preparing them, and making fire together with nothing more than a few pieces of wood, and perhaps a stone and a length of rope. We will be focusing on two methods; Bow drill and Hand drill.

We will have a small fire going throughout the day so bring something to roast on a skewer! Location, other event details and a complete list of what to bring will be provided by email in response to your R.S.V.P. All firemaking materials will be provided. Looking forward to seeing you there!
